José Luis Bustamante, Mexican painter and engraver, was born in Mexico City in 1955. He lived for several years in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he was struck by the colors and light the place. José Luis Bustamante has excelled as an artist within the Mexican culture. His work has been published in books, magazines and newspapers throughout his career.
Among his major solo exhibitions are those in the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo from 1987 to 1990, the Museum of Modern Art Mexiquense Cultural Center (Mexico) in 1992, the Museum of Querétaro (Mexico) in 1993, in the Historic Center Festival in the Cloister of Sor Juana (Mexico) 1999. Individually, the artist has also exhibited at the famous International Cervantes Festival in Gene Byron Museum of Guanajuato (Mexico) 2000, in the Museo Diego Rivera (Mexico) in 2001 and the Museum Francisco Goitia of Zacatecas (Mexico) in 2004.
José Luis Bustamante, an artist who has dabbled in many styles, techniques and disciplines, has exhibited her work in group exhibitions such as the "Fourth Annual International Exhibition" in Toronto (Canada) 1990, in the Latin American Engraving Biennial of Puerto Rico in 1990 and 1992 at the National Painting Biennial Rufino Tamayo (Mexico City) in 1992 and 1994 in Painting Biennial of the Caribbean and Central America (Santo Domingo) in 1996. The artist's work has also participated in the International Fine Art Fair Frankfurt Colection (Germany) in 1998, the International Stamp Fair in Madrid (Spain) in 2003, and in the Mural Painting Biennial of Santiago de Cuba in 2004.
Throughout his career as an artist and thanks to the many exhibitions, José Luis Bustamante has earned a place among the artists of his country, which is why museums and institutions in Mexico and Latin America, United States Europe have in its collection for this artist.
