Diego Santurio

Diego Santurio was born in Salto in 1977. As a blacksmith’s son, he learnt the iron’s language since he was a child. When he was 17, he discovered sculpture as a way of expressing his feelings, and begun to walk through a long and lonely path of investigation of the iron as a material, the space and shape.

Diego's work presents a three-level central space and the piece suspended from the railings. One of the most interesting aspects is that it can be seen from many angles.

AWARDS: Acquisition award in the Foreign Relations Minister, Montevideo, Uruguay (2002) and award in sculpture, National Hall of the Lions for young people, National Library, Montevideo, Uruguay (2002).  Latin Union award to the young creation in fine arts, representing Uruguay in Spain in the presence of other members of Latin Union (2005).
